FINAL REFLECTION

The activities I enjoyed the most where the video and reading about geotags, because I hadn't use them before and I think they are going to be very useful in the future. I wouldn't say any of the others weren't interesting, because even with the ones I knew I learnt something new. I had a few problems with audiacity, but the ICT teacher in my school gave me a hand with it.
The best thing about interacting with peers is, not only what you learn about resources, but to see that there are more teacher somewhere trying to learn new things.
I was very keen on using new technologies and would say I feel more confident about some of them, I am planning on continuing with a blog and creating a wiki also, adding videos too. I hope I can enrol in different courses next year to keep on learning.

MY VIDEO

Here is the video I created with animoto. It would be the introduction to a topic about travelling. The final product would be video created by students covering where they would like to go, what transport they would use, where they would stay, etc.

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

MY WIKI

I would use this wiki with my 1st ESO student. They will be travelling to Liverpool in March and with this wiki we would be able to prepare information about the city, with the advantages of allowing everybody to work in any text and being able to add photos, links and so on.

MY PODCAST

My students from primary have been learning short poems and tongue-twisters. A further step would be to record them and post them in our blog or even create a wiki with the poem, a picture about it and podcast showing a student reciting it. This is an example of a tongue twister they learnt (although it's me saying it)

TREASURE HUNT

As you know, we are travelling to Liverpool in three months time. We need to know more about the monuments, parks and museums that we are going to visit there. So, get in groups of three and answer the following questions. Once you have the answers, prepare a short power point presentation (about 4 slides) telling us all the information that you found out. Have fun!

  1. What is the name of the monument that the group chose?
  2. Where is it in the city?
  3. When was it build or opened?
  4. In your opinion, what is its best feature?
  5. And the Big Question: why did you chose this monument/place?

To find different monuments and information about them you can visit:
http://www.visitliverpool.com/
http://www.liverpoolcityguide.co.uk/
http://www.liverpool.world-guides.com/

Your classmates will observe your presentation. You can get a maximum of 4 points: 1 for the photographs, 1 if you answer all the questions, 1 if your vocabulary and grammar were correct and 1 if the whole group was well prepared.

You have worked very hard, well done! :) Enjoy this video and see if you can recognise any of the buildings showed.

MY ALTER EGO

When I am not teaching, I like travelling (and dreaming about buying a caravan), reading books and messing around with my two children. I have recently discover going to a spa with a friend is quite enjoyable too!
I find this video very inspiring and with lots of applications in our lessons.

ME AS A TEACHER

For me, teaching English is not just about students learning spelling and grammar rules. I like to tell my students about British culture, different anecdotes that I know will be interesting for them and make them realise it is not just a subject in school, but their passport to new places, new friends, new books and songs, ...
New technologies allow me to show them al these just clicking here and there, and for them it makes the lesson funnier and more interactive. I would like to learn more so I can take them even further.
